Mardi Gras & Galveston

***Update: Mardi Gras is spelled with a "D," not a "T" who knew!?! obviously not me, it was my first time to go!***

Last saturday, My friend Amber called and asked did I want to go to Galveston to celebrate Mardi Gras?...YES!!...it was my first Mardi Gras and it was a BLAST!!

First, some pictures of Galveston...I am no grand photographer, and these were out of a moving car's window...but the place is still a mess from IKE, see here:







okay enough sad stuff...here's Mardi Gras!!! I realized that its hard to take photos at night and that I would rather catch beads, so there's not very many pictures...

My cousin Lisa went to Mardi Gras in NEW ORLEANS and has a picture of Kid Rock on a float...it was pretty awesome! I am sure the floats in New Orleans were much more elaborate and fancy, but Galveston was a pretty neat parade...of course the High School MARCHING BANDS were my favorite part!




The picture stinks, but it was a REALLY cool peacock float!

Before the parade started, I made friends with one of the security guards and told him to feel free to give me any of the beads that did not make it all of the way to the barrier...and he did!! (He choose me over the kids...it was pretty awesome!!) This was at the begining of the parade, don't worry, I got TONS more beads then that!


These were my first 5 beads...I was way too excited (sorry)!

I can't believe I didn't get a picture of me with all my beads!! After a few hours I started to get annoyed with them around my neck, so gave most of them to some kid...I kept like 5 or 6 that I thought were pretty (the ones with pretty shapes, not just regular balls)...but by the end of the night I gave those away too! It was fun to collect them, thats for sure!! Can't wait till next year... Good Idea Amber!!

Dark Nails...

I put dark nail polish on and I can't decide what I think about it...so I want your opinion... :) (SEE POLL ON SIDEBAR)





...pardon the towel!! this is a "fresh-out-of-the-shower" look - ha!

0% of polled voters said "cute, but keep it for the weekends"

and 0% of polled voters said "its looks like death!"

:) so now I'll wear dark nail polish without being self-conscience! :)

Basketball and the Camera

On Wednesday, my boss offered a co-worker and I tickets to a Houston Rocket's Basketball game! The game started at 7:30...we we're finished with work at 6:30, and waited for her husband to email the tickets to us and at 7:00 we rushed downtown!

I texted my basketball-fanatic-cousin James saying "Yao and I are at the Toyota Center" - I thought I was hilarious!

It was a fun game...The Rockets beat the Sacramento Kings 94 to 82. Oh, and we rushed down town...ran into the game, not wanting to miss anything and...but our seats were on the 4th floor, 3 rows from the top...our view, without my 10x zoom, REALLY looked more like this:



Either way, it was totally fun and my first Houston Rockets experience!!!

What Not To Wear...

I love this show! Alot. And I regularly think about whether or not Stacy and Clinton would approve of a given outfit.

But sometimes I think...do people really dress in their suggestions to "go to the grocery store"? Seems to me like jeans are OK to wear to the grocery store! And can't a girl just wear sweatpants or pajama pants sometimes!?!

Also, I have been "Rediscovering" things in my closet that I haven't worn in a while...and its pretty fun b/c ppl think it is something I just bought!

Works for Me Wednesday...

I have been meaning to post about this for a while but I keep forgetting to write it up on a Wednesday (b/c I wanted it to be a "works for me Wednesday" post)...and today is perfect b/c it pushes those horrible pictures down lower on my page! ahh!

okay, my friend TRICIA (who should start a blog) taught me this...


I use a wrinkle free eye cream every night, now, in my twenties...all the way around…lid too!...the theory is: if we keep the delicate skin around our eyes moist now, then it will be harder for wrinkles to develop later...I don't know if there is scientific proof or anything, but it seems to make sense and its definitely not going to hurt!

I chose Burt's Bees eye cream with pomegranate because I like the smell of it when I go to bed! :)

Recipes

My easiest, tastiest meal EVER is: Meat Loaf with Yummy Green Beans!

I used to hate Meat Loaf (when my mom made it - with this recipe)...but when I found out how easy it is to make...now I love it!

Meat Loaf - serves 6-8
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
1 chopped onion (I use dried)
10-12 oz tomato sauce
3/4-1 c. dry oatmeal

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine all above ingredients together and shape into loaf. Top with remaining tomato sauce. Bake at 375 for 45 min-1 hour-- or until firm and cooked through.


Yummy Beans in crock pot
2 cans cut green beans- drain one
1 can pinto beans drained
2 beef bullion

Pour into cockpot, set on low, go to work (6 or 8 hours), come home and eat!

Thats it...and its Yummy and both are super easy! :) happy cooking...cant wait to try all the new recipes...Thanks for doing this Ash!
